Come listen to what I have to say to you. Because these are words meant for no-one else but you. Words to tell you there is no other person in the world like you. You are one of a kind, unique, excellent in your own way which was created in you from the beginning of time. Wherever you feel you have failed, or fallen short, forget it! Another chance to prove yourself is forth coming and you've grown in infinite ways…As you meant to grow and unfold and learn of things that have been. Mysteries to you… But remember the key to that door is kindness, thoughtfulness, sharing and humility… In addition to the many qualities the truth within you already knows.
In whatever time… at whatever age we have so much to learn… we learn that we can be lonely in a crowd that life is something in which we must continue to grow…. That true friends are very precious… that peace is dear and hope is a necessity. We must learn to be temperate…to find joy in simplest things… that sometimes we have to break down our old ways in order to build better ones… that we have to stop crying with the world and start laughing at our problems...we have to learn to rise above petty things… rise above jealousies and envies and greed… and build instead generosity and loving kindness and gentleness. We must learn to break away from the thought of constant guilt… and learn to forgive ourselves… and we must brush away timidity and learn to forget ourselves.
We often think that if things were different we could be happy. Happiness is not a result of other people and certain circumstances. Happiness is that small core of well-being regardless of what hell rages outside.
It is true that we can live with extreme stress and hurt and pain, and it affects us more deeply than even we can comprehend. But still, set aside from all of this is that personal relationship with oneself and with one's own personal God that can blaze and sing until nothing else can hold us for long. Happiness is that inner that affects the outer.
So, try to be happy… not in the outer things especially…for there is the much to interfere and make you fail… but go within where you can relax into the knowledge that happiness is something you decide to be regardless of the circumstances…for unknowingly, too many have their hearts on something other than happiness.
Jeremy Bentham writes of these who stretch their hands out to catch the stars and forget the flowers at their feet… we cannot ignore the nearest blessings and expect to find happiness… for happiness is born of oneself where all the tools for making it were created… as elusive as it may seem it does exist… and happiness is closer than we think!
Think of all the lovely things, a moment of inner peace, a flash of cardinals' wings against the dark wood, the sweet trains of a violin, a soft pillow and sweet sleep. Each of us has his own awareness of what makes life more contented. These are the graces that help us keep our balance.
We can forgive the hurts, the regrets and the grief of yesterday when we turn our thoughts away from the not-so good and let the containment flow in. It is usually the small and unnoticed things that give us the most peace and pleasure.
So remember now, “whatsoever things are true… honest… pure …lovely.. of good report.”
THINK ON THESE THINGS.
