MESSAGE FROM THE HEADTEACHER - 2011 | Watch her Interview

It is with great pleasure and humility that I write this message on the occasion of the platinum celebrations - 75 years of Loreto Convent Mombasa since its inception in 1936.  It is indeed a great occasion and a privilege to be here on this very important year where we gather to remember our past that has made the present very possible with all the successes that we enjoy as a school community.

There is no doubt that Loreto Convent Mombasa has continued for many years to be a school of choice by many parents in this region simply because of the holistic approach that it offers to Education.

The “platinum celebrations’ - 75 years of the school offers us an opportunity to thank the Almighty God for all he has done to make possible the growth of this school for the last 75 years but more so on the development of the growth of many young men and women who have passed through it and more that are still to pass through this great Institution.

Loreto Convent Mombasa has over the years maintained its excellent tradition that has enabled it to continue molding the young children who pass through our school to be men and women of integrity in the society.

The values and strong tradition that is rooted in the Charism of our Foundress Venerable Mary Ward, has continued to motivate our past and present pupils/students to work harder where they are and achieve their highest goals.

As we celebrate this Jubilee I would like to pay special tribute to three great foundress of Loreto Mombasa who through their vision and love for the children founded this wonderful school that has remained the pillar of Loreto sisters in this region.  These great sisters were Mother Borgia O’Shaughnessey, Mother Raphael Gordon and Mother Imelda Griffin.  I cannot fail to acknowledge and pay tribute to all my predecessors who came after the three founding sisters and who in their own way continued with the dream and vision of our Foundress Venerable Mary Ward to make Loreto Convent Mombasa a wonderful place for children’s education.

Special thanks to all the contributors of this fourth edition of our school magazine for the hard work and commitment shown in producing this wonderful magazine.  My gratitude also goes to all parents and our collaborators for your continued support to the school activities.  My heartfelt and sincere gratitude goes to all the Staff of Loreto Mombasa for the tremendous work that you continue showing.  I cannot fail to mention the Loreto Mombasa Community of Sisters for the wonderful service you are giving to the school particularly the children in our midst.

All the success and achievements we have had in the past years would not have been possible without the support of the strong PTA that exists in this school.  May God continue strengthening the bond that exists between parents and the school so that together we can make Loreto Convent Mombasa the best place for our children.

Last but not least, my special gratitude goes to all the 75th Anniversary planning committee members for your great devotion and dedication in making sure that this anniversary becomes a success in every aspect.  May God continue blessing the work of your hands.  Asanteni Sana!

As we celebrate these 75 years of our school, we thank God for all the past blessings and ask Him to continue blessings us again in the coming years.  We pray that “Under the Banner of the Cross”, Loreto Mombasa may continue serving many young women and men in this country.

LONG LIVE LORETO!
